In collaboration with the Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera, this was an evening dedicated to queer approaches to the work of pioneering composer and multimedia artist Lena Platonos on the occasion of the first presentation of her opera “The Emperor’s Nightingale” by the Alternative Stage of the GNO. The tribute opened with a theoretical presentation by musicologist / anthropologist Nikos Vourdoulas focusing on Platonos's electronic songwriting and the way her work resonates with the domestic queer music scene. The evening continued with a cabaret / variété with covers / dedications to Platonos by performers, musicians and video artists of the Athenian scene, curated by greek queer music label Fytini. The event was dedicated to the memory of Zak Kostopoulos.
