GLAM SLAM TRAILERS (2018)
Trying to position itself against notions of theatrical professionalism (which usually come hand in hand with a lack of self-reflexivity), the
Glam Slam motto is re-approaching performance through immediacy, pop culture frivolousness and a queer art of failure. Similarly, the trailers created for the Glam Slam facebook page aimed at communicating an opposition to technological accelerationism and the vimeo phenomenon of “it is self-made, but it looks as good as a professional film”. Shot on a cheap early 80s VHS camera and using home-made props and trashy references, the Jack-Smith-influenced trailers’ purpose is to remind the audience that performance can happen anywhere and there is no specific moment that is more worth-narrating than another.
